Gorakhpur, Dec 1 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has thanked Prime minister Narendra Modi for approval of the first phase of Gorakhpur Metrolight Rail Project.
CM Yogi Adityanath in a tweet on Wednesday wrote, “Approval has been received for Phase-1 of ‘Gorakhpur Metrolight Rail Project’ in the meeting of Public Investment Board (PIB)”.
He has also expressed his gratitude to PM Narendra Modi for this.
Under the Light Rail Transit Project (LRT) in Gorakhpur city, on the initiative of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Detail Project Report (DPR) of three coach light metro has been prepared. The state cabinet has also given its approval, officials here said.
The construction work will start as soon as the permission of the center is received. The target is to complete the construction work by the year 2024.
The government has also ensured a provision of Rs 100 crore for metro rail projects in Gorakhpur, Varanasi and other cities in the budget.
According to the DPR, there will be two corridors for Gorakhpur Metro. A total of 27 stations will be built on both the corridors. All stations will be built elevated. About Rs 4672 crore is estimated to be spent in the metro.
The first corridor will be 15.14 km long from Shyam Nagar to Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology. It will have 14 stations. It is estimated that around 1.55 lakh people will travel in it daily by the year 2024.
This number will increase to 2.05 lakh in the year 2031, while in the next ten years i.e. by the year 2041, 2.73 lakh people will be able to travel daily.
